COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Julie Lehman
June 29, 2019
My name is Julie and I am the New Patient/Patient Relations Coordinator at Puyallup Valley Dental Care. It is my privilege to work with our new patients to schedule their initial appointments and gather all pertinent information to make the transition to our office as seamless as possible. I enjoy getting to know patients on a personal level and connecting with them over common interests. I take tremendous pride in the relationships I have built with our patients and am thankful they entrust us with their care. At PVDC we not only provide dental care to our patients, but we are also invested in their overall health and well-being, which strengthens our patient/provider relationship.
Safety Eyewear
May 5, 2019
Accidents and injuries can happen at any time and in any place. They can also affect any part of our body. Unfortunately, our eyes are particularly delicate and since we rely entirely on them to allow us to see clearly, any damage that they incur could potentially have a catastrophic effect on our vision. While some types of injuries are completely unexpected, it is prudent to take positive steps to protect our eyes if we participate in any activity – vocational or recreational – that could potentially put our eyes at risk.

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Wild Hare Organic Farm Owner Katie Green

I think I am drawn to small businesses, both in my career and as a consumer. A smaller economy of scale and a solid ethic of care seem to go hand in hand. I like to support businesses that value the importance of longer-term customer relationships and treat their employees with care and respect. I like it when my exchange as a customer feels like more than just a one-time transaction. I'm more inclined to invest in a business that seems willing to invest in me, my family and community.

Vision Plans: Are they worth the discount?
April 2, 2019
If you think of your vision plan as being just like your medical insurance, you may need to think again. Some of these programs encourage plan participants to purchase products directly from their own retailers and discourage them from supporting the independent vision clinics they visit for their eyecare. These discount plans solicit their own products rather than promote the best quality products on the market. In doing so, they are limiting members’ choices to those which they own. In fact, at least one of these vision discount plans has opened its own optical retail locations to sell its own brands of eyewear.

How Often Should You Have an Eye Exam?
December 28, 2018
How often you should have your eyes examined depends on a number of factors, like your age, genetics, risk factors, and overall eye health. As a rule of thumb, most patients should have a comprehensive eye exam every one to two years. Even if you are not experiencing any symptoms, we still recommend routine eye exams. Regular eye exams can help us diagnose and treat medical conditions in their earliest stages.
